Diabetes risk is calculated using two established clinical risk assessment models: the Canadian Diabetes Risk Assessment Questionnaire (CANRISK) and the American Diabetes Association (ADA) Diabetes Risk Test, as defined in the ADA Standards of Care.
CANRISK evaluates long-term diabetes risk based on demographic, lifestyle, and anthropometric factors.
The ADA Diabetes Risk Test is a screening tool recommended by the American Diabetes Association and outlined in their Standards of Care for identifying individuals at increased risk for type 2 diabetes.
Using both models together provides a more balanced and reliable assessment of diabetes risk, supported by longitudinal clinical research. (Stiglic & Pajnkihar, PLoS ONE 2015).
